NZ Masters Judo Tour 08': Day I

Shortly after reaching cruising altitude Sensei Rock Littlewood made it perfectly clear that he was in fact a Zen master and that we were fools not to have read the fine print of the itinerary.

The Auckland Uni contingent at the Narita Tokyo airport station after a 10+ hour flight. Here Sensei Rock laid down the rules: "Move as fast as humanly possible through the labyrinth of the underground. The slow, the sick, and those suffering luggage and language problems will be quickly and mercilessly culled and left behind. There is no waiting and no exceptions. If you survive you will also be taunted for being sheep and following."

I think Allan thought Sensei Rock was joking at this point? Pat, on the other hand, appears to have been contemplating what he could have done 50 years ago with a full bag of soap (scented bars of soap were common currency immediately after the WWII).

After a 1 hr 20 minute express train ride we arrived at our first destination, Ikebukuro (just outside Tokyo). No one lost at this point. It might be because no one has yet discovered that you can buy a hip flask of ghetto whiskey at the seven-11 for 300 yen (roughly the same price as 3 packets of chewing gum).
